PDF Patch Released To Fix iOS Vulnerability

As you may know the jailbreakme jailbreak uses a pdf exploit to execute code and take control of the device so that it can be jailbroken. Apple released a firmware update specifically to block the exploit but did not fix the vulnerability on the older ipod touch and iphone 1st gen.

A lot of old school users felt left out so saurik has created a fix for all i-devices and has released pdf patch in cydia. If your jailbroken and are not going to update it is recommended to install this patch immediately.

  • Open cydia tap, bottom right tap on search
  • search pdf patch and install, enjoy being safe thanks to Saurik.

Update #1: For those who know their way around the bash shell and dpkg, please try out this fix and send any pertinent feedback to @saurik.

iphone 4 Fix Facetime/mms problems after use jailbreakeMe 2

There are numerous reports on FaceTime / MMS issues on iPhone 4 after jailbreaking with JailbreakMe 2.0 “Star”. After jailbreaking iPhone 4 with JailbreakMe 2.0, FaceTime and MMS stopped working for some users. Within a few hours, we have a fix for MMS / FaceTime problem, thanks to Comex and the Dev-Team.

If you jailbreak your iPhone now using JailbreakMe 2.0 it should work fine because the issue has been addressed in the Jailbreak as well.

However if you have already jailbroken iPhone before the issue was fixed, then there are two ways to fix the issue:

Install Base Structure Update from Cydia
Open the Cydia.
Go to changes tab and hit refresh.
There you’ll find an update available for Base Structure. Install it. Done!

Restore Firmware and re-Jailbreak
Restore the firmware then re-jailbreak iPhone with JailbreakMe 2.0

NOTE: re-jailbreaking without restoring firmware does NOT fix the FaceTime/MMS.

First iPhone 4 only Cydia app called SpringFlash

BigBoss has announced the first iPhone 4 only Cydia app called SpringFlash.

Since the jailbreak is due very soon, I have created SpringFlash, the first iPhone 4 only Cydia app. SpringFlash is a springboard activator based LED flashlight for your iPhone 4. In short, you can have a touch of a button for a bright LED flashlight without hassling with unlocking your iPhone, closing your app, or even turning on your screen.

Once the comex jailbreak is released you will be able to install SpringFlash then go to the Settings App, Activator pane, choose the activation method of your choice and select Flashlight. “I am using short hold power, myself. It works very well.”

Hopefully, we’ll be able to try the app out soon…

Save SHSH blob

Those of you with jailbroken iPhone3G and ipt2G devices may now have noticed Cydia starting to save your SHSH blobs too, just like it does for iPhone3GS, ipt3G and later devices. That’s because starting with 4.0, Apple started putting a “soft” SHSH blob check in the firmware. The SHSH blob check is very real in the sense that if iTunes can’t get your blobs (because the Apple signing window has closed), the iTunes restore will error out. But it’s “soft” in the sense that those devices can always use redsn0w or PwnageTool to get past the error (the bootroms themselves for those devices don’t require blobs to be in the firmware files, unlike the newer bootroms).

Furthermore, since the 3.x IPSWs for these devices don’t enforce it, you can always restore to 3.x IPSWs outside of any signing windows.

So, Cydia is doing this to allow you to continue to use iTunes to restore to 4.x on iPhone3G and ipt2g outside of Apple’s signing window without needing to use redsn0w or PwnageTool to get around Apple’s annoying new restriction.

How disable multitasking iOS4

Apple added native multitasking in iOS 4.0 but some of us dislike it as it takes our options away from using our double tap home for shortcuts such as open favorite contacts, or ipod. For us jailbreakers we have an option to disable multitasking and its a simple plist edit in the system file, don’t worry i’ve done the hard work for your.

Just add TheSpot’s repo above to your cydia sources and install disable multitasking ios 4 from iphonespot apps section and enjoy your iphone without multitasking. This is mainly for those with the iphone 3gs. If you want multitasking back you can simply uninstall this tweak using cydia and you’ll be back to normal.
