LimeSn0w Unlock for iOS 4.1 by GeoHot on its Way?

After Limera1n, GeoHot is going to amaze us all over again with LimeSn0w, a potential unlock for iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G. The screenshot and video below [Fake?] shows iPhone 3GS iOS 4.1baseband 05.15.01 unlocking with LimeSn0w installed via Limera1n just like BlackSn0w was available via Blackra1n.

As a matter of fact, when you update iPhone 4 / 3GS to iOS 4.1 to jailbreak with Limera1n it also updates iPhone 4 baseband to 02.10.04 which is not unlockable ATM. So, it would make sense for GeoHot to comes up with his own unlock solution (LimeSn0w?).

The domain http://www.limesn0w.com is registered by GeoHot the same day he registered limera1n.com for Limera1n jailbreak. Domain info for LimeSn0w.com and LimeRa1n.com can be found here and here. The domain ownership enforce our belief that Limesn0w will become reality just like Limera1n.
NOTE: There’s no word from GeoHot himself.

PwnageTool update for iOS 4.1 is expected soon which will jailbreak iPhone and iPod Touch on iOS 4.1 while preserving baseband thus enables you to unlock your iPhone with UltraSn0w.

Important information on the “Ninja Party” mode of your DEFCON 18 badge.

Q: What is the “Ninja Party” mode on my DEFCON 18 badge?

A: The “Ninja Party” mode is a way to “unlock” an invitation to the Ninja Party if you are given a valid unlock code. Valid unlock codes are included with every Ninja Badge. The idea is that the person with the Ninja Badge can give the unlock code to a friend, and that person can unlock their DEFCON badge, then come with them to the Ninja Party. (Your badge can be unlocked with INVALID codes by reverse-engineering the algorithm, but they most likely won’t let you into the event. Keep reading.)

Q: My badge says “locked.” How do I unlock it?

A: Valid unlock codes are included with every Ninja Badge. It is the “plus one” so Ninja badgeholders can bring a friend. All you need to do is have your friend with a Ninja Badge give you their code. Use this code to unlock your DEFCON badge. On the Ninja Party screen, press the bottom button on your DEFCON badge, and enter the tumbler sequence shown on the card. This will unlock your DEFCON badge.

Q: Can I just reverse engineer the algorithm on the badge to unlock it?

A: Yes and no. Here’s what will happen. The algorithm has TONS of codes that will actually cause the badge to read “Unlocked”. HOWEVER, only a very small fraction of these codes are actually valid for entry. We have a pre-selected database of valid codes representing a fraction of the total codes. At the event, your badge will be electronically read. If the code on your badge passes the algorithm but is *not* in our database, it won’t work. It’ll even flash a “hacked badge” message at you. :)

Q: Can I share my badge or my unlock code?

A: At the event, each code is scanned and logged. If an “unlocked” DEFCON badge is used more than once, it’ll flash a message alerting that it’s already been used. So, you probably don’t want to share your code. You certainly can do whatever you want with it, but it’ll only work once at the event. If people just want to make their badges say “Unlocked” – go nuts. :)

Q: Is there anything else in the Ninja Mode?

A: Maybe.

Huge thanks to Joe Grand for working closely with us on this implementation!

iPhone 4 Unlocked with UltraSn0w Using Second Method

iPhone 4 unlocked with UltraSn0w yet again using 2nd way of the three ways Dev-Team has to implement the iPhone 4 unlock exploit. MuscleNerd has shared an unlocked iPhone 4 screenshot. Before this Planetbeing succeeded in implementing the first way of the unlock.

unlock iphone 4

If you don’t know, Planetbeing and MuscleNerd have been working on iPhone 4 unlock for a few weeks now. They found an exploit to unlock iPhone 4 and then come up with 3 ways to take advantage of that loop hole to inject the baseband unlock. Planetbeing had already unlocked iPhone 4 using on of the 3 ways (Demoed here) and now MuscleNerd has implemented the unlock using the 2nd way. They’ll release the one which is more stable, fast and easy.

This is what MuscleNerd has tweeted:

Yay, got the 2nd of 3 ideas working. http://is.gd/dxTwO <- my ultrasn0w’d iPhone4. Now @planetbeing and I can compare

Here’s the screenshot of unlocked iPhone 4 he shared:

Planetbeing: the first and only unlocked iPhone 4 shown in two videos!

These days we have kept informed about events of the Dev Team and Jailbreak iPhone el’unlock 4, and just yesterday Planetbeing, a team member, managed to unlock the baseband of the new iPhone model thereby allowing use with foreign SIM, and below are two video demonstration.

In both videos, the boy shows us the first and only 4 iPhone unlocked and working perfectly with foreign operators. Currently exploits found for the release of the baseband are 3, and what you see in the video is Planetbeing. The Dev Team is working and then testing all three methods and then release the more stable.

The boy tells us that the release is not yet final because the phone takes about 5 minutes to boot. This means you unlock, nor the jailbreak are ready to be released right now but this week should be no new updates.

Planetbeing made this second video in response to the Engadget guys who have doubted the first, asserting that those screens are easy to distort. In this new movie then shows your SIM Roger (Canadian operator outside AT & T) and will also make a call to the number of customer service. There are just no doubt: the release took place!

Dev-Team: “Just One Final Step” to Unlock iPhone 4

Dev_team has been working on iPhone 4 unlock for a week now.Complete progress report on unlock for iPhone 4 can be found here. Today, MuscleNerd confirms that iPhone 4 unlock is just one final step away.

This is what he just tweeted:

unlock iphone 4

Full i4 bars with custom “steve” background task spitting out “One more thing” http://is.gd/doJXt – all pieces in place:)

It means the “next step” demoed in http://is.gd/doLnz has been reached, so now there’s just 1 final step :)

Next step is to keep the task backgrounded like we did for 3G/3GS http://is.gd/dh7Jh. Backgrounded task is the unlock.

Great news for everyone waiting to unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 4. As far as iPhone 4 jailbreak is concerned, Comex has already taken care of it and now waiting for the iOS 4.01 / 4.1. GeoHot has also successfully jailbreak iPhone 4 but there’s no ETA from him.

WARNING: If you’re waiting to unlock iPhone 4 or want to jailbreak iPhone 4, make sure not to update to any future firmware updates otherwise you won’t be able to unlock/jailbreak iOS 4.

Unlock iPhone 4 soon

Planetbeing has been working on iPhone 4 Baseband day-and-night to find an exploit to develop an iPhone 4 unlock. Here’s what he had tweeted yesterday:

Today, MuscleNerd tweeted about an arbitrary code exec in iPhone 4 baseband:

and soon after MuscleNerd, Planetbeing said that Apple has added an anti-blacksn0w trick this time around but he has ever-growing bag of tricks though.

Now it’s clear that these guys are after iPhone 4 baseband unlock with full force to find an exploit and then develop an unlock for iPhone 4. We’ll keep you posted on future development. So, stay tuned!
