Chronic Dev-Team Releases Greenpois0n Jailbreak for iOS 4.1

The Chronic Dev-Team has released Greenpois0n, their utility for jailbreaking the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch on iOS 4.1.

After much controversy, the tool has been updated to use the bootrom exploit found by Geohot.

Unfortunately, only a Windows version is currently available; however, a mac version and ipt2g support are coming soon.

You can download Greenpois0n from here.

Initially, this will be a Windows-only release. This is due to some technical complications that we soon hope to correct. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks to geohot for the bootrom USB exploit. We have opted to use that instead of SHAtter for the sake of exploit presevation.

This release of greenpois0n supports:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3G S
- iPod touch (4th Generation)
- iPod touch (3rd Generation)
- iPad

Soon there will be another release, adding things like support for:
- Apple TV (2nd Generation)
- iPod touch (2nd Generation)

Redsn0w For Windows Updated To Jailbreak iOS 4.1

The iPhone Dev Team has released an updated windows version of their popular redsn0w program used to jailbreak older i-devices on iOS 4.1. Until today Redsn0w was only available for mac.

Those with a pc can go download it over athttp://wikee.iphwn.org/howto:rsbeta. The download link is on the very bottom.

Be sure and read all instructions and every little detail before doing any jailbreaking on your iphone.

NOTE: Using redsn0w requires you to update to a stock apple firmware and if you use an unlock then you must wait for the dev teams pwnagetool which lets you update while preserving your baseband so you can unlock.

Cydia: NotSpot Removes Spotlight Search In iOS

NoSpot is a new tweak in cydia that completely removes spotlight search on your iphone. This is great for those who have an iphone 3g and are stuck with that very slow iOS 4 performance. Removing spotlight from your iphone may help it run smoother and load up quicker.

It is highly recommended for iphone 3g users to check this out if you don’t use spotlight. You can install this tweak free from cydia.

Cydia: Synchronicity Lets You Use i-Device While Syncing

Synchronicity is a great tweak that we’ve all been waiting for. Are you tired of syncing your iphone with itunes and not being able to use it since you have to wait for it to finish??

Fret no more Synchronicity is here, this cool tweak lets you use your iphone even while syncing with itunes. No more oops i forgot im syncing and canceling it because you want to use your phone or answer that call.

You can purchase Synchronicity from cydia for $2.00. I do warn you to not open your ipod app while using this tweak and syncing your i-device because it may corrupt your music library and we all hate restoring.

Synchronicity Description:

Requires iOS v4.0 or higher.

Use your device while it syncs with iTunes!

Synchronicity gives you the option to use your device during an iTunes sync. Instead of being stuck at the lock screen while you transfer new content, you can unlock, run apps, make calls, etc. You can do whatever you want, except run the Music app, which is disabled during syncs to prevent data corruption.

Synchronicity works on any device with firmware 4.0 or 4.0.1.

Though overall performance is virtually unaffected, you may notice slight lag in certain resource/CPU-intensive operations.

iMovicha: Free IM, Voice, Video Calls Via 3G/Wifi For Smartphones

iMovicha lets you IM, make free voice calls and video calls over 3G and/or WiFi and it works on iPhones, Android, Symbian, WinMo devices, Blackberry and Mac /Windows computers. So, if you have an iPhone and 3G/WiFi connectivity , you can IM, voice call/video call your buddy who’s owning an iPhone, an Android, Symbian, WinMo, Blackberry device or a Mac/Windows.

iMovicha key features:

  • Video calling
  • Voice calling
  • IM
  • Presence group management
  • Contact management
  • Preference Management

If you are using an Android based device, you will find the application in the market, but iPhone users will need to jailbreak the device and get the app from Cydia.

Esthetically the app is horrible, over 3G ( this may vary ) the video/audio quality is absolutely unbearable and the desktop clients are not very stable. Non the less, this is a promising start and we hope the developers will continue the development and make this app suitable for an iPhone.

You can find iMovicha in Cydia for free via BigBoss repo…

Guide:How To Get Flash On iPhone 4 and iPad

Frash for iphone has been updated to support the iPhone 4. Comex a well known hacker/dev in the jailbreak scene has updated frash which is his  port of Android’s 2.2 version of Flash 10.1, allowing it to run on Apple’s iOS. At this point frash is all in alpha testing, yes alpha meaning that it is not fully ready for public release and is still very early in development and is has bugs. Install this at your own risk I will not be held responsible if this causes your phone to act weird or at worst makes you have to restore. With that said lets install flash on our iphones:

  • You must be jailbroken, if not go over to the jailbreak tab above and choose your device and see how to jailbreak.
  • Open cydia tap on Manage>
  • Sources>
  • Edit>
  • Add and type in http://theiphonespotrepo.net/apt
  • After it loads, search frash and install. Reboot your i-device and enjoy flash on your i-device.
  • You can also install frash sbsettings toggle so you can enable and disable frash easily using sbsettings.

Note: I’ve personally test this on iPad and iPhone 4. Whenever there is flash content on a website it has a flash box and you have to tap on it to enable the flash content. Not all flash content works, mainly all ads load ok, games and videos are a different story some work but very rarely and if they do it is choppy and laggy. I occasionally get an unexpected error when I tap on flash but that is why its still in alpha testing.

Hackulous: Reason Behind Cracked Apps and How They Affect Developers

Dissident from Hackulous explains the reasoning behind cracked iOS applications and their effect on application developers in a guest article on TorrentFreak.

You can head over to TorrentFreak to read the entire article or read some highlights below…

In 2008, Apple unveiled the App Store, a virtual marketplace for developers to sell their applications via an Apple-controlled channel. Since the beginning, one of the key missing features of this store has been a trial service, or even a refund policy. Considering that many competitor products have had these policies for years, some would expect them to be unquestionably employed by Apple, yet two years later in 2010 people are still being swindled by sub-quality applications. The iPhone “cracked app scene” started from the idea of people being able to trial apps before sinking their money into them; an especially useful and welcome exercise considering that such a large number of apps on Apple’s App Store are pointless, underdeveloped, overpriced, and with deceptive descriptions to boot.

Dissident presents four important details that “demonstrate that Hackulous’ brand of activity is not causing as much damage as the Dev Team and everyone else may think”.

1. Most of the pirates who use our services do so because they simply cannot afford to purchase the applications. One of the prominent members of the Dev Team, planetbeing, described the pirates who use our software as “predominantly in their early teens where money is scarce and time is abundant.” Since these users have never had any intention or capability to purchase the applications whether or not cracked versions are available, developers of these apps are losing significantly less than what they believe they are to these people.

2. Another portion of our pirates are those who have the capability of purchasing iPhone apps, but not the desire. These pirates typically do not “need” any particular application for free, they just want whatever application that can provide a certain level of entertainment for them. They are not so much making the choice between purchasing or pirating software A, but rather making the choice between pirating software A or B. So again, the profit lost attributed to this tribe of pirates has been overestimated; these pirates would not have forked over their money anyway, they would just move on.

3. Over three million devices are running our software, Installous, to download and install cracked iPhone apps. The people using these devices are Apple customers who are likely to purchase another device, purchase new Apple products, or refer their friends to Apple. As I have stated before, the people who use our services to trial iPhone applications actually help Apple more than they hurt it….

4. Piracy also helps to expose an application to the masses, much like music piracy helps artists and bands get more publicity. Without cracked app sites like apptrackr, a lot of applications would be left languishing in the pits of the App Store among the rest of the 240,984 apps (at last count) available. Only the top 100 free and paid apps and the top 10 free and paid apps in each of the 20 genres, summing up to 600 apps, get any considerable notice. A large number of apps only get to enjoy recognition from the people within the developers’ circle of influence. When they are placed on apptrackr, however, they are exposed to an extensive audience which make up millions of unique visitors a month….

Let us know in the comments what you think of his arguments. Are cracked apps a legitimate way of trialing an application?

Fans of Android making mischief in an Apple Store

Do not miss the video that we bring our friends Squad The Unofficial. These two young men putting Android wallpapers in all Apple devices in their path in an Apple Store.

And I say, when the girl has begun to tinker with the IPAD “has given him a desire to buy?

To me this sort of thing seem silly me (personally) like to do the jailbreak phones Store as we saw yesterday, the best of the Apple stores is that you can “play” with all its products freely, if people continues to this nonsense only make us harm.

You can follow us on Twitter, Join us at Facebook, and also Subscribe to RSS Feed to receive latest updates on iPhone 4

New Site For iPhone Photographers

With millions of iPhones in users’ hands and a huge number of photograph apps in the App Store, this project seemed inevitable. Photographer David Cleland of FlixelPix has launched iPhonific, an gallery for straight-from-the-iPhone snaps; no Photoshop or Aperture allowed.

That isn’t to say that tweaking is frowned upon. Instead, it’s restricted to App Store apps. The idea is that you shoot, edit and upload your photos entirely with the iPhone. Hardware tweaking isn’t out of the question either (DIY DSLR, anyone?) as long as the image never hits a laptop or desktop computer prior to submission.

The shots are broken down into categories, and the neat thing is that each snap lists the apps used to process it prior to submission. For example, Camera+ and Photo fx were used on this image.

For now it’s largely a gallery of David’s work but he tells me that he’ll be opening it up to “Guest “iPhonographers” soon. It’s a fun idea. Check it out if you’re into shooting pictures with your iPhone.
